Class 1 · Tech Lab

Check your device

Clients expect a reliable setup. Read what you need, then run the live check to see how your current device measures up.

Hardware and connection

ItemMinimumRecommended
ComputerLaptop or desktop made in the last 5 to 6 yearsRecent laptop with an SSD, kept up to date
Memory (RAM)4 GB8 GB or more
ScreenLaptop screen, 1366 px wide or moreFull HD, plus an optional second monitor
InternetStable home broadband25 Mbps or more, plus a backup such as a mobile hotspot

WebcamBuilt-in camera1080p camera at eye level with front lighting
PowerCharger and a charged laptopPower bank or UPS to ride out short outages
WorkspaceQuiet cornerA fixed desk and chair, with a plain background

These are practical guidelines, not strict rules. A phone is useful as a backup, but most VA work needs a laptop or desktop.

Software to set up

Google WorkspaceZoom or Google MeetSlackTrello or AsanaCanvaLoomTime trackerPassword manager

Accounts to open

Professional emailPayment accountCloud storageLinkedInTwo-factor on every account
Security basics clients care about: a password manager, two-factor on email and key accounts, automatic updates on, a screen lock, and never sharing passwords in chat. Say so in interviews. It builds trust.

This check runs only in your browser. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere. The microphone and camera tests ask for your permission first.

Class 2 · Niche Studio

Pick your niche

A niche makes you easier to hire and easier to remember. Answer a few questions to see where you fit, then choose a primary niche and write your niche statement.

1. What describes you?

Pick at least three that sound like you.

2. Your background

Pick the one closest to your past work or studies.

3. Explore the niches

Open a card to see the tasks, tools, and level. Then set your primary niche and an optional backup.

5. Learn your niche: free basics

Short lessons with activities. Earn XP, keep your streak, and finish all three to complete the basics.

Class 3 · Prep Room

Prepare your checklist

Work through these before you apply. Your ticks are saved on this device.

Class 4 · Interview Hall

Interview practice

Talk to a simulated client. Pick the reply you would actually say, read the feedback, then try again until it feels natural.

Scenario 1 · 8 questions

Discovery interview with a founder

Introduce yourself, explain how you work, handle a tricky situation, and ask good questions.

Scenario 2 · 6 questions

Rate and scope conversation

State your rate, handle pushback, protect your scope, and agree on payment terms.

How to speak with a client

Answer in three beats: Point, Proof, Pivot
Start with your point, back it with one specific example or result, then tie it to what the client needs. Keep intros to 30 to 45 seconds.
Be specific, not impressive
Numbers, tools, and results beat adjectives. "Answered urgent emails within four hours" is stronger than "hardworking and fast".
It is fine to pause or ask
Saying "Let me make sure I understand" or "Let me confirm and come back to you" sounds professional, not unsure.
Set boundaries calmly
Be clear about scope, availability, and payment terms. Clients respect an assistant who protects the work and their time.
Your setup is part of the interview
Join five minutes early, test your audio and camera 15 minutes before, sit near a light, wear a headset, and keep a notebook handy.
Useful phrases
"Here is how I would approach that..."
"I have not used that tool yet, but here is how I would get up to speed."
"That is outside the scope we discussed. Here is what I can offer."
"What would success look like in the first 30 days?"

Common questions

Who is coaching for?
New and aspiring virtual assistants, and VAs who want sharper interviews, clearer pricing, or a better first-client setup.
What should I prepare?
Work through the campus first if you can. Bring your niche statement, your resume or profile link, and two or three questions you want answered.
Do you guarantee a job or income?
No. Coaching supports your preparation, but results depend on your effort, your niche, and the market.
